The Navigator Service — a survivor-led pilot programme to support the continued mental health and wellbeing of Dilworth survivors is launched.
8 December 2025
A new pilot programme has been announced to support the continued mental health and wellbeing of Dilworth survivors.
The Navigator Services will be launched in March 2026 as a two-year pilot to provide access to personalised mental health and wellbeing support for Dilworth survivors of sexual abuse living in New Zealand.
Developed by the Project Reform Steering Group (PRSG) – a collaboration of survivors, School, and Board leadership – The Navigator Services will be delivered independently of Dilworth by Better Blokes, a trusted not-for-profit organisation with 30 years’ experience serving male survivors of sexual abuse.
The need for continued mental health and wellbeing support was raised by survivors at the Dilworth Community Apology earlier this year. The PRSG has been developing the programme since March and has sought feedback from other survivors on earlier drafts.
PRSG member Skot Jalfon says the Group acknowledges that The Navigator Services two-year pilot is limited to Dilworth survivors of sexual abuse living in New Zealand initially, but the focus has been on setting up a service that is safe and valued by those it is qualified to serve:
“Everyone involved cares deeply about the programme’s success, and its scope has been initially limited to give it every chance to succeed and meet survivor needs”, says Skot.
The Navigator Service will provide mental health support beyond the wellbeing services provided through the Redress Programme and the Listening Service, which remains unchanged.
Support available to survivors will include access to an experienced practitioner who has a strong understanding of the Dilworth experience, help navigating health and social services, and subsidised therapeutic sessions.
More information about The Navigator Services programme will be released in the coming months.
